CHAFFIN HANGS ON FOR 23rd PLACE FINISH AT HOMETOWN TRACK

MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (June 30, 2008) – Tennessee native Chad Chaffin was looking for a strong run this past weekend at one of his home tracks, but fell just short. Chaffin, driving the #40 Key Motorsports Chevrolet, finished 23rd in the O’Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park.08mp9.JPG (144391 bytes)

With an impressive run going midway through the race, Chaffin once again fell victim to a late race tangle. Running as high as 5th in the race, Chaffin received minor damage in the accident on lap 199 which caused the race to be red-flagged for the second week in a row.

The 23rd place finish maintained Key Motorsports’ owner standings at 29th, and propelled Chaffin three spots to 23rd.

“I am pretty satisfied with our showing,” stated Chaffin. Our results are typical; however I received a lot of positive feedback on our competitiveness in the race. It was a great run for Key Motorsports, and it was what we needed to show we are competitive.”

“I really like running at Memphis. The race track is fun and close to home. Memphis, as well as Bristol, are semi-home tracks for me, and I love having friends and family come to the track to see me race.”08mp5.JPG (117561 bytes)

Crew Chief Lance Hooper stated that “this was a turning point for our short track program.” “The truck was very competitive; we had good pit stops all night as well. This was just an overall great team effort.”

With the week off, the team is looking to regroup and prepare for strong race at Kentucky Speedway with Westerman Companies sponsoring.
