DISAPPOINTING FINISH AIDES AS A TEST FOR GREEN
Blown Tire Hands Green 26th Place Finish in Second Truck Series Start
MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (August 11, 2008) – With an optimistic approach
leading into Nashville, the Key Motorsports team were prepared for a weekend of learning with driver Jeff Green. And an educational weekend it was, one which ended with a blown tire and a 26th place finish for Green and the #40 Westerman Companies Chevrolet.
The blown left front tire which came on lap 95, forced Green to finish 3 laps off of the leaders. Despite the misfortunes of the race, the finish kept owner Curtis Key solid in owner points at 28th.
Even with the unforeseen troubles, Green felt the race was not only a great lesson for him, but for the team as well.
“Although we obviously did not get the finish we were hoping for, we definitely learned a lot this weekend and put forth a great effort,” says Green. “The team and I were very responsive to each other with great communication, and I not only got a feel for the truck again, but also a better understanding of how
the
team works.”
“We were unfortunate with the flat tire, but overall the
team put forth a great effort and Jeff did a wonderful job,” states Crew Chief Lance Hooper. You can not control things such as a blown tire, and I we definitely will not let that get us down. We are ready to go to Bristol with full steam.”
The team will enjoy another off week in preparation for the mid-week race at Bristol Motor Speedway next week.
